STYLE : lady dates

Lately, I'm not sure if its the winter setting in or my mind growing I feel like i've dropped a layer of either self doubt or confidence and it's so confusing. I've been mending friendships which mean the world to me, I let them slip away. This took a lot for me, to overcome my inner thoughts and be like Nikki just do the thing. And i'm so happy for this, good friendships make shitty days, weeks, months just better. Getting through the crap with people is so much better than alone.

So to round that up, I went and had dinner with one of my closest friends and caught up on everything that'd been going on.  I've really been learning to grow as a person.
I know growing can be scary, but it's also needed to be the best person I can be.

on other note, cardigan and dresses look like you put so much effort into it, but secretly you didn't.

Also really trying to get into a a groove to post a lot more, I really do love blogging.
Stay tuned!

LIFE SWEETS // ♥ melanie martinez meet & greet ♥

Early last month I was jumping up and down because Melanie Martinez was doing a little meet & greet and was going to play a few songs in the queen st mall, in Brisbanes CBD. My lovely Ben came along as he was the one who introduced me to Mealines music (on our first date actually ). So we drove to the station & caught the train in, after  a long wait in 38 degree heat she played three songs and then we all lined up to meet her, the line went on forever and I was lucky enough to get in before they had to stop as they ran out of time. I recently did a flash sheet themed to her new album (which I loved and have listen to so much) and showed her, so nervous lil me hands over my drawings and Melanie tells me how amazing they are and literally made my day! Haha it's so funny how you can get so nervous to show your art to the person who inspired it. I wonder if thats how they feel about their music. All in all it was a wonderful day with Ben, having a lunch date and enjoying Brisbane.

Life sweets // Tattoo apprenticeship

It's crazy to think it's been a year since I started my tattoo apprenticeship at the painted lady. It all started like a dream come true and honestly hasn't stopped being amazing  since then. It's been hard work don't get me wrong, long weeks specially last year when I was completing my degree and my internship as well as my apprenticeship but I got through it all. I'm addicted to learning it seems and my apprenticeship I've learnt so much, not just about tattooing, but how to run a shop, how to deal with clients but mainly how to fall in love with your job. I work with the most amazing bunch of talented and wonderful women it helps me strive to be the best I can be. I'm so excited to grow more, try new experiences related to this and to start tattooing this year and really let the fun, and learning begin! This year I'll go to my first tattoo convention with a studio, when I was 14 i dragged my parents to a local convention and was in awe the entire time, thinking one day this will be me!  Thanks to my family & friends and all my supporters I'm looking forward to creating permanent art on you all so soon!

Here I am tattooing an orange!

Things i've learnt, fake skin is nothing like real skin and will slowly hurt your soul.

Some of my flash designs I've been working on in the past few months.

2016 // Goal Digger

With 2015 well and truly coming to a close, I decided I would make some goals for 2016.
Now some people may think it's silly to make new years resolutions or new years goals. I think it's wonderful, what better than the feeling of starting something fresh and new years really provides that possibility. So if someone tells you they have a new years resolution don't put them down bring them up it's wonderful to strive for something better. So with that all said Miss Nikki's goals for 2016 are
  • Do something that scares me.
  • Draw, draw, draw & DRAWWWW even when you hate what you're doing draw.
  • Throw myself into my tattoo apprenticeship, don't be scared you'll be great.
  • Do the full splits & practice stretching more. (you're so close now you can do it!!)
  • Drive your jellybean on amazing adventures.
  • Blog more. I'm sad I did not get to look back at 2015 via my blog.
  • Get back into cosplay & make that new one you've been planning to do!
  • Kiss more, fall in love more. (super easy one!)
  • Be kinder to yourself.
  • Rest.
I'm sure theres a million more things i'd love to do but this is a good start.

REVIEW // SODA SWEETHEARTS

So yesterday was my birthday (woo! more on that soon!) But whats a better way to spend it than trying on these wonderful hair pieces from soda sweethearts. Soda Sweethearts is a newer hair piece company by the wonderfully sweet & talented Holly. Each piece is custom made with so much sweetness you can see it! Every flower is arranged thoughtfully and attached on back with felt and a sturdy large clip these babies are not going anywhere once placed in your hair!(just what i want hehe!) She has a new range of christmas pieces which would be perfect for the festive season!

They came in a little box via snail mail, wrapped in pink tissue paper with a sweet lil note! The box made sure they came to their new home safely. And there was even a packet of fairy floss in there for me to  nibble on while writing this hehe.

She does custom orders too! so I'd swing on over as fast as you can and snap some of these cuties up!

I received three wonderful pieces by Holly, a lil orchard clip & two big flower arrangement pieces.

Make sure to like the wonderful business on
Facebook page
& to check out the
etsy

The three beautiful pieces & the yummy fairy floss.

This lil orchard clip is beautiful for everyday wear.

The first of the two larger pieces is this beautiful purple piece, i love the hint of whites.

The second is this pink, orange, white and baby blue piece with large leafs to off set it, these colour work in harmony with each other and I think look amazing in my orange hair.
It actually suited my tea cake dress perfectly! I love when things match perfectly.

(How long has my hair gotten?? so great mermaid status here we come!)

DESIGN : Kitten around!

A little something I've been working on the past few months is a mock up iPad app, It's called Kitten Around GOMA. I had so much fun researching children's needs and designing the characters for this app.  I've uploaded it to my Behance where I will hold a lot more of my work in the future, a whole project from design aspects to details are up there now.

Commissions // Pollys parlour.

Spring is in the air! I'm so excited this winter was far too chilly. While I do love a cute cardigan and coats I'm looking forward to cute little bathers and sandals for sure. I'm so happy for the wonderful clients I have and as I get ready to take a break from commissions and go on holiday (first time since becoming a freelancer I'm taking time off so it's a big deal and I still feel weird not having my life all planned out for a few weeks it is scary hehe)

The wonderful polly, asked me to design a fun logo for her new business. I love her twinkly nightie and pink hair rollers.
