LIFE SWEETS // ♥ melanie martinez meet & greet ♥

Early last month I was jumping up and down because Melanie Martinez was doing a little meet & greet and was going to play a few songs in the queen st mall, in Brisbanes CBD. My lovely Ben came along as he was the one who introduced me to Mealines music (on our first date actually ). So we drove to the station & caught the train in, after  a long wait in 38 degree heat she played three songs and then we all lined up to meet her, the line went on forever and I was lucky enough to get in before they had to stop as they ran out of time. I recently did a flash sheet themed to her new album (which I loved and have listen to so much) and showed her, so nervous lil me hands over my drawings and Melanie tells me how amazing they are and literally made my day! Haha it's so funny how you can get so nervous to show your art to the person who inspired it. I wonder if thats how they feel about their music. All in all it was a wonderful day with Ben, having a lunch date and enjoying Brisbane.

Life sweets // Tattoo apprenticeship

It's crazy to think it's been a year since I started my tattoo apprenticeship at the painted lady. It all started like a dream come true and honestly hasn't stopped being amazing  since then. It's been hard work don't get me wrong, long weeks specially last year when I was completing my degree and my internship as well as my apprenticeship but I got through it all. I'm addicted to learning it seems and my apprenticeship I've learnt so much, not just about tattooing, but how to run a shop, how to deal with clients but mainly how to fall in love with your job. I work with the most amazing bunch of talented and wonderful women it helps me strive to be the best I can be. I'm so excited to grow more, try new experiences related to this and to start tattooing this year and really let the fun, and learning begin! This year I'll go to my first tattoo convention with a studio, when I was 14 i dragged my parents to a local convention and was in awe the entire time, thinking one day this will be me!  Thanks to my family & friends and all my supporters I'm looking forward to creating permanent art on you all so soon!

LIFE SWEETS // Bikki & Bento Anniversary.

Two years ago on Christmas eve I met Ben, little did I know after that first magical date

I would of found a man who'll change my whole life.

The way I see things, the way I go about things.

He is honestly one of the best things to come into my life and I'm so grateful every day That I get to be in love with my best friend. We go to the same restaurant for the past three christmas eves and had an adventure date full of different activities. Bowling, garden walks, mount cootha look out kisses. I'm a lucky lady that's for sure. 

For our anniversary last year I made a photo book to look back at our first year together & This year I did the same and I called it Bento & Bikki volume two (our nicknames for each other)

To sum it up, it was such a magical start to the festive season.

ADVENTURE // road trip

In October, the light of my life & I traveled from Brisbane Down to Chopped. 

(previous post full of chopped pictures)

We took our time and took two weeks doing 5 or so hours each day and stopping to enjoy the scenery as we went a long the way. Getting to hang out with your best friend for two weeks straight is amazing and we really learnt a lot more about each other and fell in love more which is the best feeling. I saw parts of Australia I had never seen, fields of flowers, beautiful rivers, long roads and empty buildings.  Ben took me to the town he grew up in and took me on a date to the movies which was so beautiful inside (we even got an upgrade to extra large popcorn because he knew the man working hehe). Spent a day in Melbourne and used the old photobooth at the train station. Ben and I are already talking about our next trip.This post will be image heavy so I hope you enjoy the lil look inside my favourite holiday so far.

ADVENTURE // CHOPPED 2015

I went on the greatest adventure this lil lady has ever been on.

 I went across the country with my bento made some of the most amazing memories along the way. Saw things I had never seen and laughed so much my stomach hurt. I think it's best if I split this two week adventure into two or this post would go on for a long time, this post is just of chopped and one will be of the trip itself.

Chopped is a 3 day hot rod and custom event, where you get to camp next to the track, live bands play and you basically make a million new friends. Of course like any event with over 8 thousand people at there was a negative side to it but I don't wish to speak of it on my blog which is for my happy memories mainly.  Let's hope they fix the downsides next year!

Also, the food, the food was soooooooo yummy!

Ekka // Version 1.0

So one of Miss Nikki's favourite times of the year is August and thats simply for one reason, EKKA. The ekka is the Brisbanes Exhibition. It's 10 days of cows, rides, showbags and dagwood dogs! I even have a ekka themed kewpie tattoo on the back of my leg. This year I was lucky enough to go two times, one with my amazing boyfriend and then with mumma bear. So not to overload you all at once I will have 3 posts on the ekka, This one will be about Ben & I's time, the one with my mumma and the third is a special photoshoot edition Ben and I did with say cheesecake photography.

So Ben has never been to the ekka, So of course I was over the moon when I was the one who got to take him and show him around. I tried to fit in a slice of all the sections. We did sideshow alley, saw all the wonderful animals saw some cows get belly scathes and even ate a cheese toastie! We stayed for the night time show, which was a lot fun of monster trucks and bikes doing tricks and a sweet little girl asking when ben was going to marry me haha.
